Proving a rule set writes a pass for your wallet. You need a live credential and its credential file loaded in the Passport.
Check before you prove#
With your file loaded, each rule set in the Passport shows your standing, computed on your device:
- You can hold this: one of its groups holds for your values.
- Needs residency, Needs investor status, Needs age or Needs a fresher screening: the closest group, and what it lacks.
- Pass live, with its end date, or Pass stale when the credential or verifier has moved on since.
Hover or focus a rule set to turn your credential's screen: the clauses your values meet print on its outside.
Prove#
-
Press Prove on the rule set.
-
Choose a duration. The choices stop at the longest the pass can last: the rule set's maximum, your credential's and attributes' expiries, and the end of the screening window for the group you meet. Longest allowed uses that limit.
-
Generate proof and sign. Your device builds the proof, which takes a few seconds. Writ prepares the transaction, the app checks it is exactly the action you asked for, and your wallet asks you to sign.
-
Wait for finality. The progress panel moves through Prepare, Sign, Submit and Finalize. When it reads Finalized, the rule set shows Pass live.
What is sent#
Only the 256-byte proof, the rule set's address and the pass expiry. Your values and salts stay on your device. The transaction asks for a compute budget of 1,000,000 units so the proof check always fits.
Renewing a pass#
Prove again before a pass ends to extend it. Under the same epoch a new pass cannot end earlier than the one it replaces, so the app only offers later expiries. After you renew your credential, every rule set needs a new proof.
