FAQ

Short answers to common questions.

Does Writ see my identity?#

No. The verifier checks your identity and keeps the record. Writ, the issuer and the chain see commitments and passes.

Do I verify again for every asset?#

No. You verify once. Each asset needs a proof of its rule set, made from the same credential file.

What happens if I lose my credential file?#

Verify again. The new credential comes with a new file, and you prove your rule sets again from it.

Can an issuer tell which of its conditions I met?#

No. A pass says the wallet met the rule set. For a rule set with several groups, it does not say which group.

How long does a pass last?#

As long as you choose when proving, up to the rule set's maximum and no longer than your credential, its attributes and your screening allow. The app shows the exact end before you sign.

Why did my pass go stale?#

Your credential moved to a new epoch, through a renewal or a revocation, or its verifier was deactivated. Prove the rule set again once your credential is live.

Can I send a Writ asset from another wallet or a venue?#

Yes, when it uses Token-2022's standard transfer with the hook's extra accounts. The same check runs there.

Why does sending open a token account first?#

The recipient had no account for the asset. The sender pays its rent once; afterwards transfers go straight through.

Can an issuer change a rule set?#

No. A new policy is a new rule set, bound to a new mint. Holders prove it from the same credential.

What does a transaction cost?#

The network fee, plus account rent the first time something is created: your credential, each pass, a token account, a mint, a rule set.

Who pays the pass fee?#

The issuer of the rule set, from the pass funds it adds to the rule set. Holders only prove. See Token.

Which wallets work?#

Solana wallets that support the Wallet Standard with message and transaction signing, in the browser or in the wallet's own browser.
